Don’t get me wrong because I love real honey especially the ones that are pure and raw and made from local farms. However, I was very interested in trying this unique product that is made for vegan.

Bee-Free Honee is 100%  natural and can be used to replace honey or other sweeteners.

Bee Free Honee is a unique sweetener with a slightly tart flavor. It is “apple honey” in that it is made from apples rather than by bees! We use only three all natural ingredients, apple, pure cane sugar, and lemon juice. There is nothing artificial, no added color and no corn syrup.

Just as you would have more than one flavor jam in your refrigerator, this gives you a new flavor for your pantry.  It is an apple syrup for your pancakes as well as an all natural sweetener.  It is great for kids and it is Minnesota made while strictly using Midwest apples.  It is Bee Free Honee and if your co-op or grocery doesn’t carry it, then please be sure to ask for it!

Bee Free Honee is great for:

Vegans

Small Children, as there is no fear of Botulism

Those allergic to traditional honey

Foodies looking for a new flavor

Those looking for stable pricing against the fluctuating costs of traditional honey due to the decline of the bee population.

Bee Free Honee can be used in BBQ sauces, hot and cold beverages, vinegarettes, granola, cakes, breads, basically…if you use traditional honey in the recipe, you can use Bee Free Honee interchangeably.

Katie Sanchez, the creator of this awesome and unique product says “Bee Free Honee is made in Minnesota and using strictly Midwest apples.  The bottles and caps are from Stillwater, MN, the boxes from Golden Valley, MN, and the printing is done in Minneapolis.  I strive to keep things local and as green as possible.  That hasn’t always been easy and it is usually a little more expensive, but I have made personal commitment to be an asset to my community and to this world in any way I can, so I see it as a non-negotiable deal.”

I love her enthusiasm and dedication in using the best quality ingredients for her product.

My Review: I was so excited to try this because they are made with apples! I love anything with apples so I couldn’t stop myself from jumping up and down when the box arrived.

I am not much of sweet things but I wanted to see if it resembled honey. Truthfully, it doesn’t taste exactly like honey. But it had that texture and feel to it. Sticky and sweet.Yet, it is not as sweet as real honey. It actually has that tartness of apples in a good way.

Next, I incorporated it in a recipe from their website:

Apple Honee Granola (I changed it a bit)

½ cup Bee Free Honee

1 cup Brown Sugar

½ cup Water

2 teaspoons Pure Vanilla

1 teaspoon Salt (used sea salt)

______

2 cups nuts. (used sunflower seeds and almonds)

Suggestions are: Almonds, Pecans, and

Walnuts.

1 cup Shredded Coconut (not a fan)

______

4 cups oats, not instant

Cinnamon to taste (a lot!)

Pinch of Nutmeg, fresh grated (didn’t have fresh one)

¼ cup Wheat Germ

¼ cup Bran (used wheat bran)

2 tablespoons Flax Seed (and/or

Sesame seed)

Place in a small pot, heat honee, brown

sugar, water and oil or butter until the sugar

dissolves.  Take the mixture off the heat and

add the vanilla and salt

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.  Toast the

nuts and coconut until fragrant.

Mix the oats, cinnamon, nutmeg, wheat germ,

bran, flax seed, and toasted nuts together.

Pour the liquid on top and mix thoroughly.

Spread the mixture on to two cookie sheets

that has been brushed with oil.

Bake at 350 degrees, tossing the mixture every

15-20 min.  Once it is toasty brown, take out of

the oven and mix the currants in.  Toss

occasionally as it cools to break it up.  Store in

an air tight container.

Result was amazing amazing granola. I packed them in nice jars and gifted them to friends and one of my professors. They all loved it.
I have to say that the aroma that this Honee added to this granola was just wonderful.
