My best VDay was with my then-boyfriend 3 years ago. We went out to a romantic dinner at this awesome restaurant that was completely lit by candles….So beautiful! And the only thing I remember about the actual dinner was the dessert: a plate of chocolate truffles and strawberries to share

When I was little, my parents would make a Valentine’s Day treasure hunt for my sister and me. They would post clues that we would have to figure out and at the end was chocolates and valentine’s day gifts.

No memorable v-days. I don’t really support or celebrate it. I think you should show appreciation all through out the year as opposed to once a year when corporate America spews pink hearts all over the place. I think it means more if it’s random.

as a kid, i always loved valentine’s day because it was just a fun day–no expectations like christmas or birthdays. just a regular day plus love and candy! not quite the case any more.

My most memorable V-day was a few years ago. My husband and I had plans to go out to a fancy dinner, but they were foiled by a horrible nor-easter that made it impossible to go anywhere far. We wound up going to a tiny local place near our apartment and having veggie burgers and sweet potato fries. It was delicious, and the experience was so relaxed and low-key.

My favorite Valentine’s Day was last year. I made lasagna for my boyfriend and paired it with fresh italian bread and a nice healthy salad. I set up a nice table setting downstairs in my basement so we could have some privacy (I still live with my parents). It was so nice to have a low key Valentine’s Day at home. We vowed not to exchange gifts as we both feel the holiday is very commercial. Instead we decided to simply celebrate our own relationship and the relationships we have with our families and loved ones!

My favorite Valentines Day was the first one I spent with my husband, before we were married or even engaged. He took me to a French cafe near the beach where I had Osso Bucco for the first time (tender, savory and delicious). We were going to have creme brulee for dessert, but they had run out so they gave us a gift certificate to come back! We got to reminisce about our V-day meal in the cafe again while eating creamy spinach and cheese crepes for lunch

I don’t know if this counts as MY best Valentine’s Day, but when I was a kid, my sister and I busted out the Joy of Cooking cookbook and made a romantic dinner for our parents, including things that at the time, we couldn’t even pronounce, like vichyssoise. Not sure how good/bad everything tasted, but our parents seemed to appreciate it nonetheless.

My favorite valentine’s day was the first year I was dating my (now) husband. I was so happy and in love and super excited to spend this day with someone I really care about. It was a blizzard outside, but we still decided to go out to the restaurant we made reservations at – it was a small Italian restaurant/wine bar in West Village (I think) and our tiny table was right by the window. It was super cozy and romantic – we were watching the snow fall but were warm and happy inside. Thanks for taking me back there…

My favorite past Valentine’s Day was my first one with my boyfriend. He’s omnivorous but luckily very open to Vegan cuisine (if you couldn’t guess, I’m vegan, haha). He had ordered in some food from my favorite vegan Asian place in his neighborhood and surprised me with that and some sweet gifts when I came over.

My favorite Valentine’s Day was last year… my current BF and I went to this really fancy restaurant that was all pink, and they had candles everywhere! They brought us a mini chocolate fountain with pink colored white chocolate in it. I also got a salad and they had cut the fruit into little hearts, and the soup had heart crackers! Cutest Valentine’s Day ever!

Oh yum! Last year was my favorite Valentine’s Day. We were going to go out to dinner but my little guy was 2 weeks early, and born Feb 6th. I went out in the morning and when I came home, my husband had a box and envelope that said “Mommy” on the boppy pillow that the baby was laying on. It was adorable and melted my heart – it was diamond earrings
As far as food, no idea, I can’t even remember!!
