Tilvee is an eco-ethical skincare company that promotes products without parabens, synthetic fragrances, preservates, sulfates, petrochemicals, or phthalates.
You may not know this, but the FDA does not regulate personal are products. Companies are NOT required to disclose all ingredients used to make a product. Cheap, toxic, cancer causing ingredients have made their way into our skin care products. Your skin being your largest organ has the ability to absorb everything it comes in contact with.
Here are the The Toxic 10 that you should avoid (from their website):
1. Fragrance – This blanket term can be made up of thousands of chemicals. Many of them being toxic, cancer causing and come with a long list of side effects ranging from asthma to skin discoloration. Phthalates, another chemical, is commonly used with fragrances to make them last longer. They are linked to birth defects and are considered a reproductive toxin.
2. Propylene Glycol & Butylene Glycol – Also found in windshield wiper fluid. the EPA considers them so toxic they say that skin contact or inhalation can cause brain, liver and kidney abnormalities. In some personal care products, these chemicals are used in very high, industrial strength concentrations.
3. DEA, MEA & TEA – Used in shampoos and bubble baths. They are hormone disrupting and form cancer causing nitrates. Restricted in Europe yet legal in the USA. Increases risk for liver and kidney cancer.
4. SLS & SLES (Sodium Lauryl & Laureth Sulfate) - Strong detergents and degreaser that are found in over 90% of foaming personal care products. Animal studies show eye damage (especially to young), immune system damage and death. can create nitrosamines which are carcinogenic. Can be retained in the organs.
5. DMDM & Urea – A preservative that releases formaldehyde which causes allergies, chest pain, fatigue, ear infections, immune dysfunction, asthma, heart palpitations, cancer and more!
6. Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) – Petroleum ingredient that is carcinogenic and dehydrates your skin. Increases signs of skin aging and leaves your skin vulnerable to bacteria and disease.
7. Parabens – They are many forms of parabens used as a preservatives. Avoid them all! They are strong hormone disruptors and have been directly linked to breast cancer and heart problems.
8. FD & C Color – Synthetic pigments from coal that deposit toxins into the skin. Some colors can even deplete oxygen in the body and cause death. Animal studies have shown almost all of them to be cancer causing.
9. Mineral oil (Petroleum by- product) – Coats the skin like plastic wrap, clogging pores, causing acne and trapping toxins.
10. Isopropyl alcohol- (Petroleum by- product) - Dries and irritates the skin, stripping its moisture and immune barrier.
Tilvee is Eco-Ethical because:
1. Full ingredient disclosure
2. Organic & Fair Trade ingredients
3. Sustainable & biodegradable labels
4. Green Business Practices
5. No animal testing
6. Glass packaging
I got to try their Facial Cleansing Bar and Cranberry Facial Lotion. My skin felt light and refreshing after using the soap to cleanse my face. The lotion moisturized my skin well. I usually have dry skin so I had hard time finding lotion that balanced my skin. Cranberry Facial Lotion felt light and it did not have that weird heavy feeling that I used to get from using Olay.
GIVEAWAY TIME!
Kristie sent me an additional Cranbery Facial Lotion for one of my lucky readers.

This is a great giveaway! I’ve been researching skin products as well and I try to avoid fragrances now as much as possible. I need something that’s a gentle cleanser b/c I have such sensitive skin. I would definitely be interested in trying these products.

how cool! I’ve been looking for some more natural face products, but it’s so hard to find good stuff and I never know which ones I’m going to like. This sounds awesome!

I didn’t used to read labels on beauty products, and relied more on magazine and friend recommendations. After a lecture by Body + Soul at the Healthy Living Summit, however, I’m going to be more mindful about what it is I’m putting on (and thus into) my body.

I try to buy as many natural products as I can, but in the end I’ll choose whatever product I feel works the best. It’s important for me to have beauty products that make me feel good, meaning they have to smell and fell nice!

That would be “feel” nice.

i’m really trying to shift all my beauty products to more “natural” products-that don’t contain carcinogen causing chemicals and the vague “fragrance” I had the chance to listen to a presentation by EWG SkinDeep department and it really woke me up the loose regulations on the cosmetics industry.

Ooh lotion!
I’m always on the lookout for lotions that are non greasy because I hate the way they feel on my skin. I’ve just started looking into more of the natural products, but I have quite a back stock of others so I haven’t needed to buy anything recently.
